Damian Lillard Banking In On Millions After Latest Personal Accolade. The Amount? No Way…

Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard has continued his progressive rise to the top as one of the elite point guards in the NBA. He’s just experienced the best individual campaign of his young career by averaging career highs with 25.1 points and 6.8 assists along with 4.0 rebounds. This all comes after he signed a lucrative five-year, $120 million contract extension last summer.

His stellar season also helped him earn a selection to the All-NBA Second Team last week. More importantly, this makes him eligible for “Derrick Rose Rule” pay raise that could result in his max contract jumping from 25 percent of the salary cap to 27.5 percent. This would put in his pocket about $13 million more over the span of his deal.

Lillard has already proven to be well worth his new contract having led the Trail Blazers to the second round of the playoffs this past season despite the team losing four starters in the offseason. The 24-year-old has also joined Bill Walton, Clyde Drexler, Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge as the only players in the franchise history to earn multiple All-NBA selections. All of this makes it quite fair to assess that Portland’s future is extremely bright with Lillard manning the point.
