Former Player John Salley Has Some Harsh And Controversial Words For The Minnesota Timberwolves

John Salley has worked in the media for several years now after a semi-successful tenure as an NBA player. While not really known for his controversial remarks, he recently made a statement about Karl Anthony-Towns and Andrew Wiggins of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Heres what he had to say:

“I think he could be the future. I think he needs to get out of Minnesota. He and Wiggins need to get out of Minnesota.”

He continued,

“I think he needs to be in a place that literally gets more TV time and the NBA is more focused on. Those are the teams on the coast.”

He essentially believes that Anthony-Towns and Wiggins are great players that could be real stars if they played on a team where the basketball market was bigger and more well known. While the Timberwolves are loaded with young talent and have a serious chance to make the playoffs for years to come, it’s hard to be a superstar for such a small market team.

However, if the T-Wolves do indeed start playing well, the two young studs should have no problem asserting themselves into the limelight as superstars. There are plenty of small market teams such as the San Antonio Spurs of the OKC Thunder that have done just fine in helping to catapult their star players into featured NBA stars. It’s really all about winning and building the right culture around the organization, which new head man Tom Thibodeau is beginning to work on.
