The WWE is a business that prides itself on the many talented superstars on its roster. One of its biggest superstars over the last decade has been Randy Orton, who has developed an on-stage persona that sometimes features a fiery attitude. In a recent interview on the Pancakes and Powerslams podcast, Brad Maddox, who is a former WWE talent and referee, stated that Orton’s anger issues extend far beyond just the ring.

“Randy [Orton] would get angry at something in a match. I remember a few instances when I was a referee, so I was in [the Gorilla Position] a lot of the time. A few times he would say things or threaten other guys, like right there in Gorilla, and I would be standing there with my eyes wide open, not believing that he is saying this in front of all the producers and in the same room with Vince. I was kind of amazed by that.”

The 36-year-old has been a staple in the WWE having held the WWE Championship/WWE World Heavyweight Championship eight times and the World Heavyweight Championship four times. The company has banked on his hothead personality that has made him one of the most hated wrestlers by fans. This has been the case since he first latched onto the WWE gaining popularity as being the “Legend Killer by using his “RKO” Finisher on several WWE Hall of Famers.

Orton has become a perennial turn heel in the business that gives off the vibe to the fans that his only concern is himself. It’s something that he strives off because it keeps him relevant. There may be internal problems from time to time dealing with him because of his short temper, but he has been well worth it for the WWE.
