Hawks Tried To Massively Overpay For Paul George

With another disappointing exit from the playoffs, things aren’t looking good for the Pacers. President Larry Bird stepped down from his role and it looks like their star player, Paul George, is out the door to Los Angeles.

This isn’t the first time the Pacers have dealt with interest in George. As recently as the trade deadline, the team was beating back interest from many teams. If George does leave this summer, they’ll likely regret rejecting some of the massive offers they got for him. . According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the Pacers received a huge offer from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for George prior to February’s trade deadline.

Several teams made trade offers for George in February, including the Atlanta Hawks, who offered four first-round picks in exchange for him.

4 first round picks is a massive price tag, the kind of trade that destroyed Brooklyn’s future when they made a deal with the Celtics back in 2013. The fact that the Pacers rejected it shows just how highly they value George, and that they seem confident in their ability to re-sign him this summer.
