Heat Could Make Some Huge Splash In Free Agency This Summer

The offseason is just a few months away, but that hasn’t stopped the speculation ahead of it. There are a few huge rumors that are already floating out there. According to Josh Baumbard of Slice Miami, the Miami Heat could be front and center in that action.

“Miami trades Whiteside to the Knicks on draft night for Anthony and New York’s first-round pick (currently slotted at No. 7). They also toss in the $6 million mannequin of Josh McRoberts as added value to help mitigate Melo’s 15-percent trade kicker.”

“Phil would probably die from endless orgasms thinking about how his trio of bigs in Whiteside, Porzingis, and the remains of Joakim Noah would super-triangle the hell out of the league next year.”

“An important component to this deal: Miami would have two Top 14 picks this year and about the same $40 million (rough estimate) in cap space after Chris Bosh’s contract is expunged.”

This would take a lot of shuffling on the Heat’s end of things. First, the team would have to resolve the situation with Chris Bosh that doesn’t appear to have an end in sight. Meanwhile, Pat Riley would have to be willing to part ways with Hassan Whiteside in exchange for an aging Carmelo Anthony, who would have to waive his no-trade clause.

At that point, it would then have to heavily pursue Gordon Hayward in free agency convincing him to join the team. There are many pieces to the puzzle that could be difficult to follow through on. All in all, it’s clear that the Heat could be a very busy team this upcoming summer.
