Kawhi Leonard Has A Surprising Response To Zaza Pachulia’s Role In Ankle Injury

During Sunday’s thrilling Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals, San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard reinjured his left ankle. It occurred on a play in the third quarter where he stepped on Golden State Warriors center Zaza Pachulia’s foot after shooting a baseline jumper. Following the game, Leonard stated he didn’t believe Pachulia did it on purpose.

Kevin Durant has also come to support his teammates stating that he doesn’t believe Pachulia is a dirty player. It was a play that saw the Warriors big man injury an opposing player in a situation where that conclusion could easily be drawn. Pachulia was looking to defend a shot with the shot clock in the final seconds and took a step too close to Leonard.

Although the injury will force him to miss Game 2 on Tuesday, there doesn’t appear to be any ill will between the teams. It’s a tough situation that saw Leonard suffering another disappointing injury. Ultimately, it’s something that could alter the way the series plays out.
