Kyle Lowry Has Made A Huge Decision That Will Affect His NBA Future

With the Toronto Raptors being eliminated from the playoffs for a second straight year at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers, it has shifted the attention over to Kyle Lowry’s future with the team. He has a $12 million player option for next season that he has seven days to accept. Lowry has wasted little time in addressing in his exit interview with the media over the weekend.

“Honestly, I haven’t thought about the criteria. I haven’t thought about any of that.

“I will be opting out, and that’s as far as I’ve gotten.

“We lost yesterday. I still have to get my ankle healthy, get treatment and get to talk point.”

It had come to be an expected decision for Lowry given that he had stated last October he would explore his options this upcoming summer. Along with that, he can certainly draw a large contract offer that will pay him much more than a $12 million annual salary. He is an All-Star caliber player that is coming off his most productive season in the NBA.

This should, in turn, draw much attention in the free agent market from several teams. It could include his hometown Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks, and possibly the Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs. All in all, Lowry may have played his final game with the Raptors.
