Miami Heat Trying To Sign These Two HUGE Stars This Off Season

The Miami Heat were just bounced from the NBA Playoffs in a decisive Game 7 versus the Toronto Raptors. Now they must face the offseason with most of their veterans turning to free-agency. It will be interesting to see what the Heat look like next season as they are looking to add several new faces to the team. Recently, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith released a statement about the Heat and you may not believe who they plan to go after:

“They expect to have in excess of $30 million in cap space, $30 million-plus in this offseason. They are going to chase Kevin Durant unless the Cavaliers win in the Finals and LeBron James decides he wants to move on and possibly come back to Miami. They are going to take care of those priorities first. Obviously, they’re going to try to re-sign Hassan Whiteside, but Dwyane Wade is clearly in their plans.”

There have been rumors circulating about whether or not the Heat will go after Durant ever since reports came out that Miami would be one of his top free-agency destinations. They will have to find clever ways to make the money work, but if anyone can do it, Pat Riley can. As for LeBron James, that may be more unlikely.

If Miami can sign Durant and find a way to re-sign Wade and Whiteside as well, you’d be looking at a team that could very well be contending for a championship for years to come. Losing in the Western Conference Finals may entice Durant to seek out other teams, but it’s too soon to tell. Free agency begins in July. Until then, we’ll have to wait and see how it all goes down.
