One NBA Superstar Has Laid His Plans To Lure Kevin Durant

With the free agency period now less than a month away, many NBA teams are starting to think about the prospects of signing Oklahoma City Thunder star forward Kevin Durant. This will be his first real experience in the free agent market. This hasn’t stopped Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas from beginning his recruitment of the former league MVP immediately following the Thunder’s playoff exit, according to Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe:

And in that moment on that porch, he thought it might be a good time to spice up the Durant-to-Boston narrative, no matter how unlikely a prospect it might be. So he grabbed his iPhone, opened Twitter, and posted Durant’s No. 35 next to a green shamrock. It was simple, but not especially subtle.”

The All-Star point guard explained the reasoning behind his tweet:

“I just wanted the world to know, that’s who I’m trying to get. I just thought it was something nice to do for the world to see, “ Thomas said. “But I didn’t think it was going to be as big as it got.”

The Celtics are just one of many viable landing spots for the 27-year-old this upcoming offseason. Several of the NBA’s best teams such as the Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, and Oklahoma City Thunder are expected to pursue his services. It’s expected to be a frenzy for Durant whose decision will have a tremendous impact on how the rest of the offseason shapes up.

The seven-time All-Star is coming off one of his best campaigns that saw him finish third in the league in scoring with 28.2 points along with posting a career-high 8.2 rebounds. This comes just a season after dealing with a nagging foot injury that had some wondering if he could return to being an elite player. He has certainly answered the bell to that query and is in prime position to get the largest contract of his career regardless of where he ends up.
