Shaquille O’Neal over his Hall of Fame career was one of the most dominant players to play in the NBA. He was also known for his bubbly personality that made him one of the league’s biggest jokesters. Former Los Angeles Lakers head coach Phil Jackson revealed a story on Monday night at an American Express event in New York that lends more light to that side of the Big Diesel.

“Well, you know, numbers of times, he could crack a team up with humorous effects on the floor,” Jackson said. “There were times when he shocked us all in a practice situation, especially when he showed up nude with just his shoes on.”

It’s not one bit surprising to hear that O’Neal did something this outrageous. He had numerous other instances in his career where showed his humorous side that includes the nearly dozen nicknames that he gave himself. This is what helped make him one of the most beloved players to play in the league.

O’Neal may have been a kid at heart, but he knew when to bring his A game. While with the Lakers, he played the best basketball of his career over an eight-year span. During this stretch, he led Los Angeles to the playoffs in each season, earned his lone MVP award, three NBA championships, and three NBA Finals MVP awards.
