The playoffs in any professional sport is a time where things are ramped up to the 100th degree. During this time, it has become a commonplace over the last several years for players to shut out social media entirely. According to ESPN.com, Stephen Curry has also decided to take that route.

“When you’re really trying to zone in and keep your focus, you don’t want to have any unnecessary distractions during this point of the season,” Curry told ESPN. “We have goals to accomplish, and you want to make sure you’re giving your all.”

The Warriors point guard says he didn’t get the idea from James.

“I didn’t do it because he did it. I’m not reinventing the wheel,” Curry said. “It’s just a way to help me keep my focus on what’s important.”

Although Curry didn’t credit James for the idea, it’s hard not to make the connection. It’s something that James has done over the last few playoffs in order to further zero in on the task at hand. He has even made it a custom on social media to signal when he stays off social media.

With the Golden State Warriors looking to avenge last year’s NBA Finals loss, it only makes sense to take it another step further. Curry will be tasked with leading his team to a third straight trip to the NBA Finals in hopes of capturing a second title. All in all, this just speaks to the seriousness that the two-time league MVP has for his championship aspirations.
