Stephen Curry Reveals His Favorite Nickname

Stephen Curry over the last few seasons has seen a dramatic improvement in his individual game that has elevated him to one of the best players in the league. Like any great player, he has acquired several nicknames along the way. However, the reigning back-to-back league MVP stated after Game 2 of the NBA Finals that he has gained a strong liking to one of the original nicknames that he received before he even began his NBA career.

“My favorite one… Baby-faced assassin was the first one I ever got when I was in college. It was the first one that became popular so it has a special place in my heart, even though I have a bit more facial hair now.”

Although this nickname was first given Hall of Fame point guard Isaiah Thomas, the Golden State Warriors guard is well deserving of it. He possesses that killer instinct on the court that often times is unmatched while also having that very youthful face that Warriors head coach Steve Kerr recently poked fun at stating he looked like he was 12 years old. It’s one that has stuck with him for good reason.

Golden State will need him to live up to that nickname come Game 4 of the NBA Finals after the Cleveland Cavaliers coasted to a win on Wednesday night. Curry had a quiet 19 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field in the blowout loss. He has yet to have a statement game in this year’s NBA Finals, and this an opportune time for him to do just that.
