The 76ers Already Know Who Want To Take In The NBA Draft

The 2016 NBA Draft is a little over three weeks away. There’s plenty of buzz surrounding what will happen at the top two selections. However, it appears that the Philadelphia 76ers already have a strong idea about who they will take, according to the Philadelphia Magazine.

“In an interview with Howard Eskin on 94 WIP, Sixers president of basketball operations Bryan Colangelo admitted to knowing what he would do with the first pick if the draft were held today.

‘Yes,’ Colangelo responded. ‘I know what I would do today.’

As I reported over the weekend, multiple sources with knowledge of the Sixers’ thought process say it is LSU forward Ben Simmons who Colangleo is leaning towards selecting first overall in June 23rd’s NBA draft.”

This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise given that Simmons has long been considered the consensus top prospect in his draft class. He’s an all-around talent that showcased his potential in his lone season at LSU. He has already drawn some comparison to LeBron James and Magic Johnson.

There’s still plenty of time for the 76ers to change their mind, but it’s hard to imagine that unfolding. Simmons is just simply too promising of a player to pass up.  It’s a win-win situation for the Los Angeles Lakers in the second overall draft spot having Duke’s Brandon Ingram fall in their laps at the selection.
