Earlier this month, CM Punk was finally able to make his long-awaited UFC Debut. However, he suffered a loss in disappointing fashion in the first two minutes of the fight that put some doubt about him getting in the octagon again. However, UFC president Dana White in a recent interview with TMZ gave some hope to that possibility.

He called me the night of the fight. We talked, he was on his way home. I told him to go spend some time with his wife, live like a normal person for a little while, and then we’ll get on the phone and talk about what’s next for him.

Although the manner in which Punk suffered a loss was discouraging, there’s no denying that it pulled a large crowd wanting to see how he would do in an MMA match. His inexperience was quite obvious, but with more training and sparring he could come back a much more prepared fighter. Punk clearly has the desire to get back into the octagon at some point in the near future.

There’s no timetable for when that next match will be, but White does have some interest in hammering one out. This may be Punk’s last opportunity to show that he can be successful in this sport. It’s certainly something to keep an eye on in the coming months.
