Texans Head Coach Bill O’Brien Issues Final Word On J.J. Watt: Is He In Or Out For 2016?

Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien confirmed on Friday what many assumed about star defensive lineman J.J. Watt: he’s officially done for the season.

The Texans placed the three-time Defensive Player of the Year (2012, 2014, 2015) on injured reserve on Wednesday after he re-injured his back against the Patriots last week.

The three-time Defensive Player of the Year should be ready for 2017.

Watt underwent surgery on Thursday to repair a herniated disc in his back — the same disc that required surgery this past offseason, according to the Houston Chronicle’s John McClain.
