WWE Has Released A Huge Detail About Royal Rumble

With the year winding down, the major pay-per-view event left for both WWE brands is the Royal Rumble. There are still many details yet to released about the event. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, the location of the 2017 Royal Rumble has been confirmed.

Multiple sources since this morning have confirmed that the 2017 Royal Rumble will be held in San Antonio.

It would mark the 20th anniversary of the biggest Royal Rumble live event in history, the 1997 version that was held in San Antonio at the Alamodome, and drew 60,525 fans, with 48,014 paid, built around Shawn Michaels vs. Sycho Sid, with Michaels regaining the WWF title in his home city.

It is expected that 15 wrestlers for each brand will take part in the event with the winner getting the opportunity to take on the top title on their respective show. This will be the first Royal Rumble following the brand split in July. The two programs have already went through their first solo pay-per-view events.
The Royal Rumble is one of the four major events each year with the 30-man royal rumble being the main fixture. Last year’s winner of the event was Triple, who was entrant N0. 30 and spent nearly ten minutes in the ring. The event will be held in early 2017.
